Ah man, that is an easy one. Kickin’ it with Nick B is nostalgia. It is a time machine back to when the music was blazing and the times, man, they were just simpler. I am an old-school hip-hop head. Somewhere in the late 2010s rap changed and it left me. So I stopped listening to it and pivoted to the rock scene, mostly because from the late 2010s on rap just got stupid in my opinion. Now, don’t get me wrong, some great artists have come out, some that keep things just straight-up hip hop, but the stuff I listened to growing up just felt like it had more substance. Plus any of the OGs that still dropped new music they’re always shown love!
I started this show after a childhood friend of mine died. He was a good friend. After his death, I remembered sitting around listening to the type of music we play on Kickin’ it, and I thought, “You know what better way to honor my friend than to bring back the music we used to hang out with our friends and jam to…so here we are.”
