That’s a statement that didn’t use to be so shunned or hated. I’m proud of the things this country has accomplished. The great inventions that came from the best and brightest that came here. For the majority of us, we now have the ability to take a shower in clean, running water whenever we need to or want to. We can use the bathroom on a whim when nature calls instead of going into a shack or field. We have the ability to go to the store and get the food we need when we’re hungry or stop by the closest restaurant when hunger hits. Capitalism created this, not government.
This nation created so many good things, and while one could argue that those that may have created some of the things we use without thinking were flawed people, who amongst us isn’t? I’m not saying they were upstanding people, but to demonize capitalism because of a few is dangerous. I know it’s the hip thing to do nowadays, but it’s dangerous on all sorts of levels. When you demonize the system that has lifted more people out of poverty than any other thing on the planet, it never ends well. In fact, it always ends in communism.
I say all that to say this: Where are the modern inventions? Where are the modern inventors taking the chance? We have a few, but one of the biggest is being demonized for wanting to help the country he made his home in. He needed his services. Elon Musk is who I’m talking about. He felt he could help weed out wasteful spending in the country he made his home. Now he’s being attacked and smeared. His product, he created to help the world he lives in, burned, and for what? Political hatred.
He was loved months before he joined the Trump campaign, and then he was cast out, ridiculed, and mocked because he was now somehow the enemy. The same can be said for Trump. Everyone loved him until he ran as a Republican, which is, for all intents and purposes, the minority political party in the US. I’m not arguing in defense of them or their politics but rather their views on the need they saw and thought they could help. Neither of these men is taking a paycheck while they work in government, and granted, they are benefiting somehow from their work, but Elon Musk is someone who saw a need and felt he could help, and now he’s being destroyed. His inventions that could put us on Mars are endangered, and all for what? A political ideology.
What is wrong with cutting excess spending? What is wrong with shrinking the government? I understand people that need services, but when the government isn’t in the business of helping, capitalism tends to step up and help. After all, why did the government go into the business of helping to begin with? So they could corner the market. I hate government with everything in my being, but I always have faith that those that work in it mean well, and those that aren’t getting paid and are working to cut stupid spending, I think, are doing something we should all get behind.
I am not a Trump supporter or a MAGA bro because I recognize the country’s issues, but I also recognize our past and the issues we had that we worked to fix. How is what Elon is doing any different from what Americans have always done? You really think the world’s richest man wants Nana’s social security check? Really?
