I recently read an article where Pet Shop Boys member Neil Tennant took a somewhat blatant swipe at Taylor Swift. With all my issues with Taylor, it’s nice to find someone who sees it like I do and calls it how they see it. I have to admit that he made very valid points in his discussion, the biggest being what is her famous song.
Again, I haven’t been shy about my hatred of Taylor I wouldn’t say hatred for her, but hate might be the best word. Though if I’m being honest, I don’t hat anyone ever for anything but I really don’t like her as I feel she doesn’t bring anything to the table. None of her music is memorable and it’s white girl famous in my opinion.
I am a fan of music from talent people and while I will agree some of her early albums were decent nothing in those albums stands out as a hit that will be just as big as it was on its release 30 or 40 years later which is the point Mr. Tennant was making.
When the reporter mentioned “Shake it off” after Mr. Tennant asked what is her Billie Jean he quickly dismissed it because, again, it won’t be all that memorable in 40 years. It’s not just Taylor Swift; it’s pop and music. That’s my problem with her; she keeps cranking out feel sorry for me because I was dumped again anthems but nothing of any substance. Her music makes women feel like they’re not the problem men are.
When you’re pushing mid-30s and have had a little league worth of ex-boyfriends, shouldn’t you start looking at yourself as part of the problem? This isn’t hating on Taylor not in the slightest if I wanted to be like her and write hateful music I could easily do that it doesn’t take an expert to write mean things about someone you don’t like. I know heartache is part of life but DAMN there is also other parts to life stop jujumping into bed with every guy that gives you the look.
