So lots has been made of the Super Bowl not because of the teams, which are lack luster if I say so myself, but because of the halftime performance. People seem to be attacking the performer who is American and happens to be Puerto Rican. That performer is Bad Bunny.
Now I know he’s not just being hated on because he happens to be Latino! America is better than that; we have to be. While I know there are racists in this country far more than I’d like to admit, I prefer to believe we’re better than that, but I’m also not foolish. However, seeing Bad Bunny at the Grammys sitting all alone and looking a little less than confident, I wondered why.
Turns out he may have been all alone because of death threats. Death threat? Are you fucking serious? Over a performance in an overhyped, meaningless football game, seriously? There are even reports he was wearing a bullet proof vest and that he may have gained weight from eating because of all the threats and stress. Bad Bunny is a human, and in the grand scheme of it all, it’s not that important the Super Bowl that is.
I am not a fan of Bad Bunny because I’m old. It has nothing to do with his Hispanic ethnicity or his lack of English-speaking songs, but because it sounds like he’s not opening his mouth! I’ve always loved his guest appearances on other musicians’ songs, but on his own, I just don’t vibe with him. I certainly don’t want him dead.
This is what’s wrong with politics in America: it’s causing good people to hate people for reasons that make no sense. I digress. I just can’t get over how horrible things are for him, and he seems like a great guy. Stop letting them control you, either party, for fuck sake!
I will be watching and I will be cheering Bad Bunny on. It has to be a dream come true to some degree, and because of all the hate he’s getting, I’m going to give his music another look because I refuse to let any hate win.
